Over the last 28 years quality and craftsmanship have been the foundation of my businesses. Founder and President of Empire Kitchen & Bath and Empire Custom Homes, I have worked on some of the finest homes in Western Canada. After the 2013 Calgary floods, I began experiencing a personal health crisis and found I was no longer able to attend my own office and the job sites of my clients, without becoming ill.
This inspired me to dig deeper into what was in these environments, and how they were impacting my health. What I discovered was that the standard building materials being used on modern-day job sites contained high levels of toxins and chemicals that were affecting my health.
I knew I had to change something. My new showroom facility and personal home renovation had to be built differently so I could go to work, and live. Every material going into these buildings was investigated for its toxicity and VOC content. I learned that for almost every problematic material being used, there was an alternative available that would reduce or eliminate many of the contaminants from these buildings.
Now I’m sharing this knowledge so that we can all enjoy healthier home environments.
